Late summer – autumn: The tick lurks in the forest, meadows, shrubs, leaves, playgrounds.
The areas infected with meningitis are spreading more and more. The tick is stripped as it passes by. This stings. As the saliva of the tick contains anaesthetic substances, the sting remains unnoticed for a long time.

Typical signs of disease:

7-10 days after tick bite: Flu-like symptoms such as headache and aching limbs, fever and sniffles. After 10 days, these symptoms may become more severe, accompanied by spinal cord inflammation (fever, photophobia, neck stiffness and vomiting). Permanent damage such as paralysis and coordination disorders can occur. The disease can also be fatal. The severity of the disease increases with age.

Vaccination is therefore highly recommended!

• normal vaccination schedule: repeat after 1 month and after 9 months
• fast vaccination schedule: repetition after 1 week and after 3 weeks
• Duration of vaccination: 10 years

What to do if you discover a tick:

• Use a pair of tweezers to hold the tick as close to the skin as possible and
• … carefully pull out to the rear
• Disinfect, consult a doctor if there are residues
• No rotation, no oil
• Observe puncture site for 6 weeks: with ring-shaped redness – which can also migrate! – Consult a doctor.
